Privacy Policy
Axis Maps provides mapping tools and apps, including Headway. This policy explains how we handle information on axismaps.ai and through our shared account services. Headway also has a product-specific privacy policy describing its mobile features.
Information we receive
- Account information. When you sign in, Auth0 and your chosen sign-in provider supply an account identifier and, depending on your provider and permissions, your email address, verification status, name and profile picture. Our apps use these details to identify and display your account. Our API stores account and provider identifiers, available email information, access roles and entitlements. We do not receive your Google or Apple password.
- Content you provide. We store maps, datasets and other content you upload or create, and saved items and preferences you choose to sync. Content you publish or share is accessible according to those sharing settings.
- Service and usage information. Our services and infrastructure process network information such as IP addresses and browser headers, along with session or installation identifiers, sign-in records, feature interactions, referral information, and diagnostic or error reports. Some records can be associated with your account; hashing an identifier does not necessarily make it anonymous.
- Website analytics. Our websites and web apps, including this site and Headway on the web, use Google Analytics to count visits: pages viewed, the site or campaign link that referred the visit, browser and device type, approximate location, and newsletter signups. Google Analytics sets cookies on our sites to tell one visit from the next. Our native iOS app does not use it.
- Feature and purchase records. Where you use these features, we process selected trips or notification watches, push delivery tokens, and purchase or subscription records needed to provide updates and account benefits. Payment providers handle payment details.
- Communications. If you contact us or subscribe to updates, we receive your email address and the information you submit. Newsletter signup also sends referral and campaign information, when available, to our email service, Buttondown.
Google sign-in
We use Google sign-in to authenticate you and obtain basic profile and email information, including your Google account identifier and email verification status. We use that information to create or recognize your Axis account, display your profile, and provide account features. Google sign-in does not give us access to your Gmail messages, Google Drive files, contacts or calendar. Authentication is processed through Auth0.
How we use and share information
We use information to operate our apps, sync content, manage access and purchases, deliver requested notifications, respond to support requests, prevent abuse, troubleshoot problems and understand how our services are used. We do not sell personal information or use Google account data for advertising.
Service providers process information to perform these functions, including Auth0 for authentication, hosting and network providers for infrastructure, Buttondown for email updates, Google Analytics for website traffic measurement (not advertising), and applicable payment and notification providers. We may also disclose information when required by law or necessary to protect users and the service. Third-party services have their own privacy policies.
Storage and retention
We store information on your device and on infrastructure used to run our services. Cookies or browser storage maintain sign-in sessions, preferences and app state, and Google Analytics cookies measure website visits. Retention varies by record type and purpose; account content, operational logs and payment records do not all have the same deletion schedule. Some records may need to be retained for security, accounting or legal obligations.
Your choices
You can sign out, manage saved content, adjust device notification and location permissions, and unsubscribe using the link in our emails. You can remove Axis's Google access in your Google Account's third-party connections settings. Removing that access does not itself delete data already stored by Axis.
To request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account data, email [email protected]. We may ask you to verify account ownership before acting. Deleting an account does not itself cancel a subscription managed by an app store; manage that subscription with the payment provider.
Changes and contact
We will update this page and its date when this policy changes. Questions about your information or this policy can be sent to [email protected].
